December 13, 2017 Comment 0 Stereo Stereo is a vegan restaurant, a bar and a club & music venue – and one of Glasgow’s most established ones! It was one of my first full vegan food experiences, and I have been back many times since then. Stereo is 100% vegan and all food is free of animal products. The menu, which was relaunched in 2017, is rather comfort food oriented – very much like its partner venues, Mono, 78, Flying Duck and the new Harmonium in Edinburgh. However, there is quite a healthy edge to the food on the menu - less tofu and seitan, more vegetables! On the menu you’ll find burgers, pizzas, jackfish & chips and a seasonal pie, next to beetroot gnocchi (which taste awesome), roast veggie & quinoa salad, a range of smaller dishes to share or for starters, and a selection of sandwiches. There are also different desserts and ice cream available. Budget: Mains are around £9-10 and sandwiches start at £6.50 (more if you order them with a soup or chips. One of my favourite dishes is the Reuben sandwich with chips. The tempeh rashers and sauerkraut make it just like the real thing, but there is also loads of greens in the sandwich and a good portion of side salad. My friends had the Classic burger, which is a broccoli patty with lots of veggies on top, and the Shamuchan, a Turkish wrap with spiced haggis – which was just that bit too spicy; so be careful when you order this. I've also recently tried the Old Italian sandwich, which come son a fluffy focaccia with a thick layer of green pesto, roasted vegetables, ruccula and olives - it's really filling even without the chips! In the evening the restaurant and bars quickly fills up, so I recommend to book a table!
