The V&V Cafe on Great Western Road was opened as a vegetarian and vegan cafe, but has relaunched a fully vegan menu in January 2018!

The standard menu at the V&V includes several breakfast items, like porridge, yogurt with berries, a VLT sandwich and a vegan sausage bap. For lunch you can choose from a variety of toasties, sandwiches, baked potato, pakora kebab and the signature pakora toastie. Finally, you can also have the soup or the curry of the day, different pies and mediterranean flatbread with all kinds of fillings.

I usually go for the pakora toastie, not only because it’s very unique to the V&V, but it’s also incredibly delicious! It’s served with salad and coleslaw.

The V&V has a great takeaway meal deal – one sandwich or homemade paste + a snack (olives&humus, nuts or crisps) + bottled water/tea/coffee for £5!

My favourite thing about the V&V is though, that I can always rely on getting a slice of vegan cake! I think I’ve had most of what they have on offer – not because it’s so little, but because I keep coming back to try different things. The donuts are so yummy and the little cakes and empire biscuits just the right pick me up for an afternoon in the office! I love sitting in for a vegan croissant, which is huge and comes with coconut butter and jam.

Every day between 2-4pm the cafe offers luxury vegan afternoon tea for two with a mix of sweet and savoury treats! I’ve not tried this yet, but judging from the cakes and sandwiches i had so far, I don’t know what could possibly go wrong there!
