Pizza Punks

Pizza Punks is a trendy pizza joint in the city centre of Glasgow, not far from Central Station. Unlike other pizza places, Pizza Punks is famous for their "punked up" pizzas, which are completely customisable. You can add an unlimited amount of toppings, without paying extra! There are plenty of vegan options to choose from and a first class Veganuary deal (2018)!

I had ordered takeaway pizza from Pizza Punks before, but I recently went in for a sit-down lunch for the first time to try their Veganuary 2018 deal (more details below).

Even though it is tempting to go crazy with the unlimited toppings and make up a fantasy pizza with all the veg on the list, I like to keep in minimalist and only choose a few toppings that go well together. I went for the sourdough base, red sause, no cheese and a mix of veggie sausage, artichoke, red pepper and sun-dried tomatoes, with some ruccola on top. My friend had the sourdough and red sauce too, vegan cheese, veggie haggis, red onion and cherry tomatoes. The pizza was delicious - particularly the red sauce tasted really fresh and there was plenty of the toppings on the pizza.

Part of the Veganuary deal was a lush vegan chocolate brownie milkshake covered in oreo bits and served with a wee strawberry on top - you need vitamins, right?

Even though I was starving for lunch I did not manage to finish my meal, and took a few slices of pizza home with me in order to be able to finish the brownie shake. Priorities!

Labelling:

Vegan options are labelled on the menu, but you can also speak to staff about what's vegan and what is not.

Vegan Options:

None of the set pizza combinations on the menu are suitable for vegans, but the more popular option at Pizza Punks is a "punked up" pizza anyways, where you get to choose as many toppings as you like for the same price!

There is a variety of vegan-friendly toppings available. The sourdough pizza base is vegan (gluten-free also available) and so is the red sauce. You can get vegan cheese and of course all the veggie toppings are suitable for vegans. You can order some protein to your pizza by adding veggie sausage or veggie haggis and finally top it off with some greens!

Budget: 

Considering that you can choose an endless combination of toppings for your pizza, the price at £10 per "punked up" pizza is a real steal!
